Klever: Crowdfunding Technologies for Your Smart Home
The home of tomorrow is here today, with technology that can connect your home to make it more efficient, and make your life easier. While there are already lots of great gadgets on the market already, there are always more in the works that promise to work even better or cost even less – and you can get your hands on them before anyone else. Here, we look at a handful of smart home campaigns from crowdfunding favourite, Kickstarter.
Kleverness calls itself “The World’s Smartest Lighting System,” and aims to let you fully automate your home’s lighting and control everything remotely with no modifications or special bulbs. They want to make smart switches and dimmers more affordable, more accessible, and more importantly, work better than what they felt was out there now.
They took a look at every smart switch and dimmer on the market, evaluated them, and aimed to make sure their products covered more than just the basics, and performed better overall for a better price. Aimed at raising $50,000, they met their goal in just 12 short hours, in part funded by a large number of backers in Mexico.
Pariot One’s mission is making smart homes affordable for everyone. Their campaign has had some backers, with this promise:
“Smart Home. Everybody talks about it. Almost nobody has it. The number one reason? The purchase price! That’s why we created Pariot. Pariot is a low-cost Smart Home system for everyone. You can control wall sockets, light, heating and a lot more via your smartphone. We are committed to making Smart Home more accessible for more people. Therefore we created a low-cost system without sacrificing functionality.”
Their prototype panel can be controlled via Amazon Alexa, iOS App or Android App. You can either switch and control every device on its own, or you can create individual programs, for example, your morning routine: open the shutters, turn on the lights and music, and preheat your coffee while you take a shower.
Finally, Vocolinc – with a big goal of raising $156,000 – wants to let you control your home remotely with a voice-activated smart wi-fi outlet. Their PM3 smart outlet prototype claims to be the world’s only dual smart outlet and USB charger compatible with Homekit and Alexa.
The device can work with the majority of your appliances and lights, allowing you to control your clocks, coffee machine, fans, lamps and more remotely, or when at home with voice control. Sounds like a great way to impress your guests.
